PHYSICAL HANDS ON THERAPIES
MASSAGE
The use of massage has been recorded in China since 3000BC, where it was used for the promotion of health as well as for relaxation. In India massage has always been used as part of traditional Ayurvedic medicine.
In Japan, Shiatsu massage works with the meridians and acupressure points.
Hippocrates (Greek), known as the father of medicine, believed all doctors needed to know how to use massage for healing purposes.
Some of the benefits of receiving a massage are: Reduction of pain and increase mobility when your tissues are strained due to injury or illness, or when your tissues are tense due to stress or emotional upset.
It works by
• promoting healthy blood flow throughout your body
• helping to get your lymph system activated
• helping to improve your breathing
• promoting the removal of toxins from your body
• assisting in increased range of movement.
• Reduction of stress
• Improvement of muscle tone
• Sports Massage shortens your recovery time following intense physical activity – if part of what is keeping you out of the gym or the pool is the pain you get the day after you have exercised, then look no further. Treat yourself to a massage after your work out. This style of massage is sometimes referred to as post-event massage (Sport massage) and is carried out with the aim of clearing any lactic acid and other by-products of respiration that have built up in the muscles whilst you were exercising. As a result, you’ll notice less pain (if any) and you’ll be in a much more positive frame of mind when it comes to planning your next exercise session.

Therapies realised by Adriana Kahrs (senior therapist, specialised in Oncology/Reflexology and palliative care, member of the Mount Vernon Hospital Network of therapists)
The massage is a gentle modified therapy based on Swedish massage techniques and lymphatic therapy. This style primarily uses gliding, stroking, kneading and tapping to manipulate soft tissues and muscles.
Other forms of therapies that would be appropriate for oncology patients include myotherapy, reflexology, aromatherapy, energy work, craniosacral and lymphatic massage. Excepting myotherapy, each of these techniques emphasizes light contact with the patient, or in the case of aromatherapy and some forms of energy work, no contact with the patient's body. Myotherapy involves deep tissue massage to relieve pain.
Among the benefits are relaxation, stress reduction, and relief for fatigue and pain. The chief benefit is relaxation and stress reduction, although many patients report improved energy levels following massage. For patients undergoing chemotherapy, massage can improve fatigue and reduce stress while promoting relaxation. For patients undergoing surgery, massage can aid recovery and restore mobility to the affected areas. In addition, some patients report massage as a way to eliminate the need for pain medications.
ADAPTED TREATMENTS FOR INFIRM / STROKE AND CHRONIC DEBILITATING DISEASE SUFFERERS. 30min £45 50 min. £70 Mobile service available in 5 miles radius £80/ 50 min.
Long term effects of stroke / paralysis and other conditions that are debilitating an individual, can greatly vary depending on the person. Some of these effects include:
• Muscle weakness
• Paralysis
• Immobility
• Insomnia
• Fatigue
• Chronic Pain
• Depression
• Anxiety
• Memory loss
• Speech loss
Benefits of Massage
Recent scientific studies have shown that when massaged, patients experienced increased mobility, decreased pain, decreased fatigue, decreased depression and as a result used less medication.
Massage can help improve Insomnia experienced in creating a more relaxed state for the person both physically and mentally. It also activates the parasympathetic nervous system responsible for allowing your body to relax. It is common for a person to even fall asleep in a massage!
Massage Improves Circulation
Poor circulation is a common problem in ageing population. It is important for individuals to address the issue in order to prevent a cardiovascular incident from occurring.
Gentle massage can stimulate circulation and internal organs and create warmth. Extremities such as hands and feet may be swollen, achy or cold due to an accumulation of lactic acid in the muscles caused by decreased mobility in someone who has had a stroke.
The good circulation stimulated by massage delivers oxygen-rich blood to these damaged, tense muscles, which is exactly what they need to heal.
Massage Decreases Pain and Banishes Cramps
Pain may be experienced. This is generally a result of stiff joints, muscle tension and cramps.
Sore, stiff joints may be alleviated by gentle massage as muscles surrounding the soft tissues surrounding the joint receive better blood supply from an increase in blood circulation. Increased circulation from massage therapy can also help to alleviate cramps, as they are usually the result of the muscle not receiving adequate blood flow.
The day to day quality of a person’s life may be improved by massage. If you have had a medical issue, please always speak to your doctor before undergoing massage or other similar therapies.
FACIAL MASSAGE / AYURVEDIC FACELIFT 30 min. £45 50 min. £70
We based our Facial Massage therapy on the principles of Ayurveda. This is derived from the Sanskrit words: ‘Ayur’ which means life and ‘Veda’ meaning knowledge or science. It is one of the oldest forms of medical science known to man – and as a healing and healthcare system it originated in India over 5000 years ago.
Ayurvedic Facial Massage is a specialist marma point massage incorporating areas of the face, neck and scalp. Massage, in whatever form, at the very least loosens the muscles and takes away pain and strain from the body, relaxes the body and calms the mind.
A good massage that is done regularly helps to stimulate the release of feel-good hormones known as endorphins. It also improves the circulation of blood within the body and makes the elimination of wastes more efficient.
Facial massage helps to exfoliate the skin, taking away dirt and dead skin cells that make the skin look dull
Benefits of Ayurvedic Natural Face Lift Facial Massage include:
• More relaxed muscles and tissues of the face, neck and scalp
• Improved appearance of the areas around the forehead, eyes, nose and mouth
• A reduction in neck & shoulder tension

The massage increases the circulation of blood to the face, and such improved circulation makes the skin more nourished and brings to it a healthy glow. MASSAGE FOR ELDELRY AND INFIRM 30min £45 50 min. £70. Mobile service available in 5 miles radius £330/ 50 min.
Caring touch can have profound, positive effects on one's mental and
emotional state; this is especially true for those who are elderly or infirm.
Massage provides physical and mental stimulation from an "outside" person
not involved in routine care. This can relieve boredom for the mentally alert
and help disoriented reconnect with the present time and place.
As an individual relaxes, daily frustrations can seem less overwhelming. A
person who feels better after a compassionate touch session may be more
inclined to be physically active, to socialize with others, or simply smile at
loved ones.
Nurturing touch can calm the anxious or agitated person who feels
frightened, depressed or out of control. The person feels less lonely and is
reassured that he or she is still important, that someone cares. This
generally improves their overall state of mind.
Releasing muscle tension through compassionate touch can:
* Increase blood circulation allowing the body to help heal itself
* Improve balance, coordination, and mobility
* Result in more restful sleep
* Decrease the need for pain or sleeping medication
* Increase energy
* Ease and deepen breathing
* Improve appetite and digestion
* Help relieve constipation
* Positive influence on the immune system

While standing in steady position in order to strike the ball or in whole swing while hitting the ball with the clubs.
Whether an irregular player who generally tees up only while on vacation, or a more regular player who lives and breathes the sport, any golfer can benefit from sports massage therapy. Our sports massage therapists can provide pre-game massages that will warm up your muscles to ensure comfort and flexibility, and prevention of injuries and a pain-free round. Post-event massages, meanwhile, will increase circulation and encourage muscle recovery, lessening you and your teams’ chances of injury and soreness between matches at a tournament or rounds.
PREGNANCY MASSAGE 30 min. £45 50 min. £70
Pregnancy massage is a catch-all term for any hands-on massage during or after pregnancy. Massage while you are pregnant is also called antenatal massage. Massage in the few months after delivery is called postnatal massage. This massage will help to go back to “normal”, will teach you to massage your breast for milk production. It will help you to relax and rest and recover from the delivery and the sleep deprivation.
During the Pre-natal treatment, the practitioner will use pillows and boosters to position a woman comfortably on her side. This helps especially during the later stages of pregnancy. Lying on your side is often the most comfortable position for pregnancy massage.
The therapy promotes relaxation, soothes nerves, and relieves strained back and leg muscles in expectant mothers. Pregnancy massage is especially beneficial in the second and third trimesters, when the extra weight in your belly puts a strain on your back.
Pregnancy massage provides relaxation by relieving stress on joints. It eases neck and back pain, helps you to keep good posture and relaxes and provides flexibility to birthing muscles. Aids the circulatory and lymphatic systems, which keeps blood flowing to both the mother and the baby. It stimulates different glands in the body, which help to stabilize hormone levels, and relieves nervous tension throughout the body. And the nurturing touch during pregnancy massage promotes relaxation and provides emotional support.
A massage therapy during pregnancy might have multiple positive effects, including:
•lowered anxiety
• Decreased back and leg pain
• Improved sleep
• Decreased levels of the stress hormone noradrenaline
• Increased levels of the "feel-good" hormones serotonin and dopamine
• Decreased levels of cortisol, an indicator of stress
• An overall improvement in mood
LYMPHATIC MASSAGE 30 min. £45 50 min. £70
Developed in the 1930s, lymphatic drainage is a delicate form of massage that stimulates the body’s lymphatic system, improving the metabolism, helping the body to eliminate waste and toxins and providing a boost to the immune system.
The lymphatic system is responsible for helping fluid and waste leave the body and for regulating the immune system. When the lymphatic system becomes blocked, fluid builds up and stagnates, causing the entire system to become toxic, making us feel sluggish and more susceptible to viral or contagious diseases.
By stimulating this system through massage, it works more efficiently, which in turn boosts the immune system, clears blockages, eliminates toxins, transports nutrients to cells and increases the metabolism.
This massage is essential in the recovery of liposuction and other cosmetic surgeries.
Why lymphatic massage is useful after liposuction?
Liposuction Surgery is a skincare surgical treatment by which body fat is sucked up from various portions of the human body. The procedure is performed with the aid of a cannula that is linked to a very high-pressure vacuum device.
Massaging after liposuction helps to reduce swelling, smoothen out the skin irregularities or folds, and to make the skin less sensitive.
Most people are pretty sore in the first two weeks. After the operation you can expect lumpiness and unevenness for at least the first 4-6 weeks. Your surgeon should see you at week 1 to be sure there are no fluid accumulations (seroma) that can go on to become scar tissue and lumps that are difficult to fix.
For many patients, lymphatic drainage massage performed by a qualified, licensed massage therapist can begin as early as three days after your procedure. Patients who had their liposuction performed using the Endermology, Syngerie, or Venus workstations should wait at least two weeks after surgery before beginning a massage programme.
I know by experience that the post operation of the surgery may be very difficult for the patient. Mostly of patients experienced lots of pain, the skin is tender, they feel like a burning sensation, there is swollen, and they have restriction of movement. Some of them are unable to sleep at night. Some lumps have an ugly appearance that generates anxiety.
During the treatment I explain how the lymphatic system works, how your body heals and what the surgery does and how the body responds to the assault. Liposuction is not a natural process, it is not losing weight or creating new curves or sculpting new figures in a kind, gentle and slow process, therefore the reaction of the body is dramatic, and the massage helps the body to recover. It is a kind extra help, that it can be painful, but it helps to move things around!

Deep tissue massage is a technique that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronic aches and pains and contracted areas such as stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.
Some of the same strokes are used as classic massage therapy, but the movement is slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain in order to reach the sub-layer of muscles and the fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles).

REFLEXOLOGY 30 min. £45 50 min. £70
Western Reflexology was developed in America based on the works of the physician Fitzgerald in the 1930s. However, it was modified in the 1940s by Eunice D. Ingham (1889–1974), a nurse and physiotherapist. Ingham determined that the feet and hands were especially sensitive and mapped the entire body into "reflexes" on the feet, renaming "zone therapy" reflexology. "Modern reflexologists use Ingham's methods, or similar techniques derived from her method. it is based in the principle that there are energy reflex points in the feet and hands that relate to all organs and body systems.
The therapist will balance these points in order to help the body’s own healing process.
HOPI EAR CANDLING (THERMO AURICULAR THERAPY) 50 min. £70
50 min. Elderly 70+ or Infirm £70
Thermo-Auricular Therapy usually relates to the use of Hopi Ear Candles. It is believed that the Ancient Greeks used ear candles, initially probably for cleansing, purifying and healing on a spiritual basis, but much later on a purely physical basis.
However, the practice reached the modern world via the native American Hopi Indians of North Arizona (There are claims that this tribe is not responsible for the therapy). Ear candles were used traditionally by Shaman healers.
The candles are made from the natural ingredients of beeswax, honey extracts, sage, St John’s Wort, chamomile, beta-carotene and organically grown flax. A constant high quality is ensured. The candles work on a chimney principle, drawing any impurities to the surface where they can be gently removed. They equalise the pressure in the head and ears, making them suitable for most conditions. Secretion flow is gently stimulated, and the vapour collects and removes impurities or deposits. Most of these are carried away through the candle "chimney", although some of them can be found in the condensed candle wax residue after removal from the ear or could even work their way up to the surface 24-48 hours after.
Though results may vary from patient to patient, some of my clients have reported Hopi Candles may help with a wide range of disorders in ears and/or sinuses and have a relaxing calming effect for stress disorders.
Conditions that can be helped with Hopi Ear Candles:
Excessive wax, earache, sinusitis, rhinitis, tinnitus, headaches, migraines. There are not contraindications to this therapy, however, it should not be used for those with perforated eardrums, or where grommets have been inserted, or anyone allergic to any of the ingredients.

SPIRITUAL / ENERGY HEALING WITH ADRIANA KAHRS: 30 min. £45 50 min. £70
Energy medicine, energy therapy, energy healing, vibrational medicine, psychic healing, spiritual medicine or spiritual healing are branches of alternative medicine based on the belief that healers can channel healing energy into a patient and effect positive results.
We can describe these mystical principles as an inherent to the human being. It is based on what science has discovered as Quantum fields, where we are all energy. We are all a flow of information communicating with each other in constant basis. Energy healing works with this universal field, that you may called it God, Highest intelligence, Source energy, Spirit, etc.
It works with your subconscious mind, your soul and the spirit that are in constant communication with these forces. We see modern medicine based on the fundaments of the mentality of the 17th century with Descartes, then Newton and Darwin; where their work and their philosophy that enshrines it are based on mathematical empiricism, which is the idea that mathematical and physical laws may be revealed in the real world via experimentation and observation of matter.
However, we are much more than matter, in fact matter it has been proved that it does not really exist!
There is a vast space of interaction of energy in constant communication, interacting with intelligence, acting as particle or wave according to the observer. We believe that by working in the energy field we can reach the root cause of a problem and not only the physical symptomatic manifestation or disease.
The power of the mind heals you, the mind that it is exposed to and in awareness of the infinite field of all possibilities.
In Spiritual healing, we work with Spirit and spiritual beings asking for their intervention in the energetic fields and dimensions to help the healing process of the sufferer.
